Letter to the Neighbors
Dear Neighbors,Ìý
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½, we hope you areÌýfaring well and staying healthy.ÌýAs our neighbor, weÌý±¹²¹±ô³Ü±ðÌýour relationshipÌýwith you, andÌýtrust thatÌýyou considerÌýDUÌýan important assetÌýand anchorÌýforÌýthisÌývibrant community.ÌýÌý
These days,ÌýDU’sÌýdedication to the public good is more important than ever. It isÌýessentialÌýthat weÌýcontinue toÌýsupport the restaurants and shops along University and Evans, and thatÌýallÌýmembers of our campus communityÌýtreat our neighbors with respect. We look forward to the time whenÌývisitorsÌýcan againÌývisitÌýourÌýbeautiful campus, stroll freely through theÌýadjacentÌýresidential streets,Ìýand support localÌýbusinesses more often.ÌýIn the meantime, we are encouragingÌýeveryone who is hereÌýtoÌýfollow state and local laws—as well asÌýDU’s strict protocols, policies,ÌýandÌýprocedures—in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite our bestÌýeducationalÌýefforts,Ìýand theÌýsignificant investmentÌýwe are makingÌýin testing andÌýtracing, weÌýdoÌýhave someÌýCOVIDÌýcases on campus.ÌýThese are updated daily on ourÌýCovid-19 dashboard,Ìýwhich is easily accessible from the ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½â€™s home page (www.du.edu).ÌýThe majority of our students are followingÌýour StudentÌýHonor Code and COVID protocols,Ìýthanks to a comprehensiveÌýand ongoingÌýeducational campaign. For those who are notÌýwe haveÌýa clear Student Rights and ResponsibilitiesÌýprocessÌýin place, so we can hold students accountable for theirÌýbehavior.ÌýÌý
When we have seen DUÌýstudents gatheringÌýin greater numbers thanÌýis allowed—or we receive such reports—we have investigated immediately and, when necessary,ÌýtakenÌýswiftÌýdisciplinaryÌýaction.ÌýÌý If youÌýobserveÌýbehaviorÌýbyÌýpeople you believe to beÌýÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½s, andÌýthat seemsÌýunsafeÌýorÌýa potential violation of policy or law, we welcome you toÌýcompleteÌýa reportÌýwith the University, or with the local police department.ÌýÌý
