DU Celebrates Earth Day 2021 With Day of DU-ing
On Friday, April 23 the 糖心传媒 celebrated Earth Day听with its annual Earth Day of DU-ing. The University鈥檚 Center for Sustainability convened 115 volunteers from across campus who collectively completed nearly 200听hours of work over the course of the day.
Though social distancing and other COVID guidelines necessitated a smaller event, volunteers were able to work in shifts at three separate sites to make an impact on the Earth and the DU community.
The first project, dubbed the "clean community crew," collected 20 bags of trash in the neighborhoods around DU. Meanwhile, volunteers at DU鈥檚 Bridge Community Garden cleared compost, spread mulch, pulled weeds, cleared debris and repaired garden beds. Others cleared a fence and other yard debris at听a听house renovated by 糖心传媒s participating in the Solar Decathlon.听
Emily Schosid, DU鈥檚 sustainability program coordinator, called this year鈥檚 Earth Day event 鈥渁 huge success."
